First Ever Bohoc 5 K Race!

March 3, 2009 history was made in Bohoc. The team visiting from Michigan sponsored a 5 K race for men and women in the area. Specifically, the race was the idea of high school student and cross-country athlete Joseph Hausler who also participated in the race. Joey is the son of HAFF Board President Eric Hausler who is also pastor of Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Ada Michigan. Excitement was high the day of the race and the courses (one for the men and one for the women) were lined with spectators.

The area around the start and finish lines was particularly crowded and the spectators had a tendency to fill up the space where the runners were supposed to be! Keeping the lane cleared was a big job.

There were 4 races. Girls 12 to 18 and women 19 to 25 ran south and boys 12 to 18 and men 19 to 25 ran north from the same area.

Each runner had a number.

The starts and finishes were quite exciting.

US cash prizes were awarded for the first 3 places in each race.

For a flavor of the day, here is a video of the first 3 finishers in the second women's race – see if you can see the third place winner cross the line!
