When speaking of the over 70 members of the HAFF Ministry Team, the Haitians often refer to the HAFF “Family”. That “family” consists of HAFF employees as well as employees of missionaries and volunteers. Donations to the HAFF General Fund and to missionaries help to pay the salaries of Ministry Team members.
In early 2012 it was determined that Ministry team members also support 370 dependents. Salaries for Haitians comprise almost half of the HAFF budget in Haiti. While the salaries free the employees to minister in the community, they are also an investment in long-term community change as parents are able to better feed, clothe and educate their children.
As in the US, Haitian children often follow in their parent's footsteps. HAFF's clinic nurse, Mme Telius Berson's son Evens has recently finished his training as a Medical Lab Technician.
At the left are two young men who have parents who work at HAFF. Both of their fathers are lay preachers. They are just finishing their High School studies at BTI where they are both excelling academically. They are positive leaders for their peers at school and are active in service with a young men's choir at church.
These young people and the others like them are the future of the area and of Haiti. HAFF, not only by providing an outstanding education and through the other ministries, but also by employing their parents and guardians today, is providing a means of preparing the youth of the area to become the strong Christian leaders the area needs tomorrow.
