BTI Prayer Partners Program

In early March, HAFF intern Jonathan Fischer felt burdened to address the emotional needs of the many new students who had come to our school from Port-au-Prince. He presented some of his ideas to the missionary staff and they were so well-received that he and Gabi Van Schoyck were detailed to develop them. One of the ideas they came up with, which we all embraced was a prayer partner program pairing new students with old students of the same sex and grade. Gabi and Jonathan got former BTI students (and HAFF University Scholarship Students) Jean Rony St Amour, Marie Noel Accilien and Edwine Victor involved helping to set up the program and write the informational fliers to be posted at school. Edwine also helped Jonathan present the program after devotions in school on Monday, March 15th.
Thursday March 18th, BTI Vice-Principal Gabriel Mompremier, Jean Rony, Marie Noel, Edwine, and Jonathan met to pair up the 26 students who were signed up for the program by then. There were 6 pairs of young women and 7 pairs of young men.
Friday March 19th, about 70 students attended a meeting for the start of the BTI Prayer Partners Program! About 45 more students had signed up that morning to be part of the program! Those 70 students represent about 24% of the school, since, with 85 new students, the students body now numbers near 300.
Jonathan, Jean Rony and Edwine took turns explaining the program to the students. They met again with the Students Monday March 22nd to more fully explain the program and to announce all the partners and to provide each pair with materials to help them as they pray together. Won't you pray for this initiative that the students can find mutual comfort and support through prayer and that they will grow in their walk with the Lord and in service to Him?
