In an effort to make HAFF’s ministry more sustainable and community-based, HAFF’s Board of Directors and missionary staff have sensed God's calling to begin to shift the leadership of HAFF’s secondary school, Bohoc Training Institute, over to the hands of capable and committed Haitian Christian community leaders. The HAFF staff has spent many hours this spring and fall meeting with various community leaders as this idea has evolved and taken shape. We are initiating this transition by helping facilitate the establishment of a community school board. HAFF will continue to subsidize the school, on a decreasing basis, for several years, as the community board becomes established. This board, which will initially include two North American staff members, will work hand-in-hand with HAFF’s ministry team to implement the transition. It is our vision that this community board will have full leadership of BTI beginning the 2011-2012 academic year. We know that there are challenges ahead, but we are excited about where the Lord is leading HAFF and we as a mission are committed to following the Lord’s guidance as we move in this direction.

As HAFF begins to phase out of administrating the secondary school, opportunities abound for HAFF to focus more of its ministry on continuing and expanding our non-formal, Christ-centered, community education programs, as well as provide mercy ministries to the local community. Our vision is that HAFF will be a lighthouse of Christ-centered learning for the entire community – a place where people of all ages can learn, grow, and develop the talents God has given them. We covet your prayers as we move through this transition – that the community as a whole would support the idea, that specific community members would willingly serve, and that the process would bring honor and glory to God.
