Steel Reinforcing Rod

While the footers are being dug, several men are preparing the steel reinforcing rod (rebar) for the posts. One man bends the rebar at the end that will sit in the foundation.
This is the resulting bend that will help anchor the rebar in the cement at the base of each post.
A second man uses a chisel and hammer to cut short lengths of rebar.
Those lengths of rebar are bent into shape by a third man. These squares of rebar will keep the 4 verticle lengths of rebar in the square shape for the center of the entire length of the post.
Finally a fourth man cuts pieces of tie wire which will be used to tie the squares and the lengths together into the proper reinforcing for each post.
