The 12th and 13th grade students who did not pass their national exams last year, are retaking their exams in Grand Riviere du Nord, near the north coast now. This year's 13th graders just finished their national exams, also in Grand Riviere. Their return to the Plateau two weeks ago was a bit of an adventure. It rained hard and the Bouyaha River north of Pignon came up so that they had to spend the night in Saint Raphael, on the north side of the river. They also had to wait for a big truck that was stuck on the way up the mountain. It was almost 7:00 before they got to Saint Raphael. They were able to cross the next morning and come on home.
Please pray for these students as they take their tests. And pray that the people correcting them will do the job with honesty and integrity.

Met Claude Souffrance had a seminar on the 10th of July. He had about 25 people there. He shared what he learned at a seminar earlier this year and what he learned from Violette Nyirarukundo about trauma counseling (see 7 June 2010 post at www.connieinhaiti.blogspot.com). He also shared about the SODIS method of water purification which uses transparent soda bottles in the sun. HAFF was able to send seminar participants home with some of empty water bottles that had been left over from other events.

HAFF does not normally host visitors during the summers. For the last few years the Wilsons have been the only North Americans at HAFF and managing the campus and their agricultural activities keeps them fully occupied. This year, however there were two chances to have people visit HAFF for part of a day. Colin and Carla gave a HAFF Farm tour July 11th for some Christian farmers from New York and Illinois who were visiting the Pignon Hospital. The next day, a group of folks from Illinois came to HAFF who were visiting John Munsell, a Mission Aviation Fellowship pilot. John wanted them to see some of the missions that MAF serves with their flight services to Pignon.

Jonathan Fischer showed them around the HAFF campus and took them to visit and pray in some homes near HAFF.

The Plateau has been getting some good rain. The rain on Thursday came hard and fast, so there was some crop damage in the ravines. Pray for the rest of the rainy season, that no more crops are damaged by hard rain and that the rains come at the right time for people to get a harvest. The main road from Bohoc to Pignon is holding up fairly well, even though the Caiman ravine that the Community Relief Committee paid to have fixed has some bad spots.

The CRC has only one more distribution of bulgur left to finish what they have to give out. They have been using the bulgur to encourage community groups which have been formed to fix their own roads and foot paths. Pray for the CRC as they continue to reach out with aid to the victims of the earthquake and other people in need.

The Christian publishing company David C. Cook has made available Haiti Trauma Kits to missions in Haiti to help with the response to the earthquake. The kit is a collection of materials that can be used to train people to counsel those who have gone through trauma. The materials can then be used in that counseling. HAFF ordered 60 of the Trauma kits – 30 for the people who participated in Violette's Trauma Counseling seminar in May. The plan is to work through the materials section by section over a period of months with the participants. The other 30 kits will be given to local pastors and other people in ministry in the area. Please pray that God will use these materials to bring the healing counsel of Godly men and women to those who are still hurting from the earthquake.
