The 13 trees travelling home on the heads or shoulders of their happy owners, in buckets or laundry tubs, weighed some 60 pounds.

However, we could only sell 338 citris trees at Savanne Rouge because many people had not come with their money, but had hoped we might give the trees to them anyway. Instead we travelled to a church on our side of the river and left the other 612 trees for 7 other, more organized groups in the La Bel Mer area who had already gathered money once before.

HAFF’s ag agent, Millius Hilaire, meets regularly with these groups and will continue to oversee and field questions regarding this tree project.
