M. Patricia Davies October 23, 1927 - November 26, 2012

“Each one should use whatever gift he has received to serve others, administering God’s grace in its various forms faithfully.” 1 Peter 4:10 (NIV 1984)

Former HAFF Board Member M. Patricia Davies passed away on November 26, 2012. Veteran missionary Connie Curilla remembered, “I first met Pat Davies on my way to Haiti for the first time. Since she was on the California based HAFF Board, I had corresponded with her by letter and phone calls long before then. We went on to spend a very intense six weeks together in Haiti, as we arrived at HAFF nine days before the coup d'etat that overthrew Jean Claude Duvalier!”

Pat remained on HAFF’s board as it transitioned from being based in California to Florida. Bonnie Price, president of HAFF’s new 1993 Florida board, said that Pat was invaluable in helping the new board understand and gain perspective on HAFF’s past operations, future goals as well as the present ministries. Pat was an example to us all that retirement from paid employment does not mean that we stop working but rather we find new ways to serve the Lord.

Pat's dedication to serving God through HAFF was evident over the years to follow as she spent a couple months in Haiti many years. Her long hours cataloging books for the school library, encouraging and supporting Lila Clark and the other missionaries, and inspiring others to help are still bearing fruit today. Pat's last trip to HAFF was in 2000.
